So sad this Alphabet is over! It had been so fun to make. But I think I’ll do version 2 of the whole alphabet because thanks to the Romanovs who took so many pictures, I have more ideas! :)

The Romanov Family’s Alphabet - Y is for Yacht.
Here are various photos of the Romanovs aboard their two favorite yachts: the Polar Star and the Standart. The Russian Imperial Yacht Standart, serving Tsar Nicholas II and his family, was at her time the largest Imperial Yacht afloat.
Elegant style yachts were once the norm among many of the world’s most important rulers. The British, the Danes, and even the Americans have all at one time or another provided their leaders with beautifully appointed yachts that served for both recreational as well as official purposes. But few of these highly specialized ships can compare with the Standart, reserved exclusively for the use of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia.
The Imperial Yacht Standart (Штандартъ, you can see this word on Alexei’s sailor cap) was built by order of Tsar Alexander III of Russia and constructed at the Danish shipyard of Burmeister & Wain, beginning in 1893. She was launched on 21 March 1895 and came into service early September 1896. The Polar Star was the yacht of the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna of Russia, mother of Tsar Nicholas II.
The Romanov Family’s Alphabet - X is for Xenodochy.
Xenodochy: the reception of or extending of hospitality to strangers or foreigners.
